Our final in-person meetings at Oakley House this season were dedicated photo shoot days on 20/04/2026 and 01/06/2026.
Members were encouraged to bring their cameras, and their questions, as we did informal photo shoots in and around Oakley House, with more experienced members on hand to provide guidance to less confident members on getting the best from their cameras.
We had permission to scout around Oakley house itself which was very interesting, although we were not permitted to photograph the regalia. Pity, as it was fascinating.

One member got help on making use of the histogram feature to optimise exposure settings, another was asking about transitioning from film photography to digital (yes there is still a thriving film sub-culture out there!) while another was exploring different lens options for their work.
Steve showed off his beautiful new Hasselblad outfit. It drew oohs and aahs of appreciation even if most of us will never own one.
David demonstrated his inexpensive table top studio rig for copying and macro work – photography you can do without leaving the comfort of your own living room.

We explored the possibilities of finding interesting images even within the limitations of a single venue site. Proof that photography is not really about bagging beautiful subjects but often about making beautiful images out of mundane material. Fortunately, we had good weather for both meetings!

Interesting sessions, fun and educational and a little different from our more formal sessions and I think everyone learned something.
